About
UNL Studios is a landscape design practice based in Bristol, UK.
Challenge
The company has rethought the way it works, and founder Rob asked to reflect this shift in the website positioning and across all visual communications.
UNL’s design philosophy is to create gardens and public spaces at the meeting point of structure and feeling. Projects are shaped by algorithmic, modular principles that form a framework for growth—living, expressive and organic.
Solution
The visual language mirrors this directly: a precise identity grid is paired with hand-made elements that carry the breath of nature and the human touch.
The graphic system is built around the core metaphor “Organised Freedom”: a strict modular structure (organised) within which dynamic, painterly compositions (freedom) can thrive.
A blind-emboss effect nods to the “Until Now” part of the name and helps moderate colour saturation—especially on the website, where a rich palette could otherwise compete with the content.
The colour system is seasonal: dedicated sets for spring, summer, autumn and winter, rooted in the local context. A constant signature green is always used in typography and appears on every application to support recognition and ensure long-term coherence.
The current identity—and all communications—are shown in the Autumn 2025 palette. On 1 December the palette will switch to Winter.
