About
Design Aid is an interdisciplinary studio and creative agency crafting bespoke projects from sketch to realization. The studio works across retail spaces, hotels, restaurants, and private interiors, specializing in “interactive spaces”—an approach that blends architecture, design, and visual identity. Their work aspires to synthesize ethics, aesthetics, passion, and cultural context into every project.
Challenge
Develop a brand identity and design system that reflects ambiguity, imperfection, and the pursuit of form. The challenge was to create an identity that does not seek immediate understanding but instead evolves collaboratively with its audience—shaping a statement that becomes an extension of the brand itself.
Solution
We created a custom typeface inspired by lettering from Notre-Dame de Paris, embodying mystery, incompleteness, and historical depth. The typeface was used to spell “Sacristie”, which translates to “sacristy”—a space for storing priestly vestments. A fusion of grotesque and serif elements, the font captures various epochs through its whimsical and romantic letterforms, reinforcing the brand’s ethereal and enigmatic character.
One of the identity’s key attributes is its visual variability. We designed a typographic symbol system, adaptable for both communication materials and physical applications. These symbols were transformed into metal sculptures, serving as subtle yet impactful details within the brand’s interior projects.
Additionally, we leveraged Midjourney to generate AI-crafted graphics for branding merchandise. Through iterative experimentation, we ensured that while the visual language remained diverse, it conveyed a cohesive and unified brand expression.
